Hey everyone! First off, I want to apologize for being so inconsistent lately with posts! I’ve been incredibly busy with traveling and seeing family that I haven’t had much time to sit down and write a quality post. This week, I’m sharing with you my favorite ways to keep my hair looking and feeling great in the summer months. After spending the past week in Florida, I especially found these tips handy and I hope you will too! Whether you’re working out, going to the beach, or just soaking up the sun, hair gets frizzy, dry, damaged, and oily. That’s why it’s super important to take care of your hair while enjoying vacation! So go out there and have fun, and don’t forget to use these tips to keep your hair healthy!
For Beachy Waves
We all want those beautiful, textured waves we get from the saltwater. But unfortunately, not all of us are lucky enough to live on a beachfront paradise. To get your own beachy waves without the beach, separate your hair into two sections, twist the hair away from your face and blow dry it until it’s 90% dry. I let my hair air dry the last 10% to give it a more natural look, and then spritz it with a little texturizing spray ($) as a finishing touch.
To Fight Frizz
In the summer, I suffer with frizzy, dry hair, as a lot of people do. A light hair serum or oil usually doesn’t do the trick on my thick, wavy hair. Instead, I like to use a little lotion ($) to tame flyaways- I just squeeze a pea sized amount into my hand and rub it through the ends of my hair. This keeps the ends of my hair from getting frizzy on humid days, and I don’t have to purchase a new product!
For Oily Hair
After spending a long day in the sun, you most likely have an oily scalp from sweating under the intense heat. As most of you know, dry shampoo ($) is used to spruce up your hair after a few days without a wash. It soaks up the oils in your hair to keep it from looking greasy-which means it’ll also give your hair a major boost after a day sweating in the sun.
For Pool Days
Phillip Kingsley Swim Cap ($) will save your hair. Seriously. Originally designed for the US Olympic Synchronized Swimming Team, this hair mask will keep your hair hydrated will you soak up the sun and splash away in the pool this summer. apply this in your hair before you hit the pool or beach, and your locks will be protected from the drying qualities of chlorine and saltwater.
With these four tips, you should be able to rock your hair this summer no problem. You can also try these great hairstyles to wear this summer!
