Hey guys, today I’ve got a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! While many of my friends and family know, I’d like to share it with everyone this week, and I am SUPER EXCITED!! So hold tight and read on to hear my exciting news!
This past semester was one of my hardest yet. I took a full courseload, and many of my classes were definitely not easy (thanks a lot, accounting). With classes, homework, searching for jobs and internships, and blogging, I was definitely up to my nose in to-do lists. But there was one other thing that definitely took the cake in making a difficult semester- a visa application.
Yes, you heard that right, I applied for an Italian Visa (which is not easy to do I might add). Why? Because….
I’M STUDYING ABROAD NEXT SEMESTER!
I am so beyond excited for this. And while the Visa application was a pain in the you-know-what, it was definitely worth it!
My university is really big on study abroad. We have campuses in Rome, Seville, and Paris! There are semester-long programs in each of the locations, but being the adventurous person that I am, I signed up for their program called Discover the World. In this program, I will be breaking my semester up and spending five whole weeks in each location! I will first be heading to Rome, then Seville, and last but not least, Paris.
I am very excited to be heading to Rome first because I spent a week there in May of my freshman year, as part of a special study abroad class. Since I have some of my bearings in Rome, it will be nice to head there first.
I’ll be taking 1-2 classes in each location to add up to a full courseload at the end of the semester! I’m excited to be learning about other cultures and how I can apply my learning there.
I am very excited and will be leaving for Rome on August 23 and returning to the states from Paris on December 16 (just in time for my boyfriend’s birthday!).
While I have been to Europe twice, I am excited to have a very extended stay this time! I plan to travel as much as possible and I’ve already been researching where I’d like to visit (thank you, Pinterest)!
While abroad, I plan on creating a new “Travel” section to share all of my travels with you all. I’m going to begin posting TWICE a week (fingers crossed), so definitely keep your eyes open for new posts every week! In addition, I was lucky enough to be accepted for my university’s Global Studies Social Media Ambassador position. Through this, I will have a new Twitter account that my school will be making for me, where I’ll be sharing pictures every week of my travels, so I will share that with you all when it goes live! Through this position, I’m also required to write 2 blog posts, so I will be sharing those with you here on A La Keighla!
I’m very excited to embark on this journey and to share it with you all. Please leave a comment if you have any travel recommendations, suggestions, or even questions about my experience.
