Hey everyone! As summer comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting on some of my favorite style trends from the season. To be honest, I’ve never been a fan of summer or summer style, until this year. I was super inspired by all the new trends and made me develop a love for a warm weather wardrobe. I wanted to share with you guys some of my favorite trends and also some ways you can transition them for fall/back to school!
Gingham made a huge comeback this year and I’d have to say it was one of the most popular trends I noticed this summer. How could you not? It really pops and adds life to any outfit which is why I love it so much! A great way to transition gingham into the fall is to pair it with some low-key items for a really cute and casual look! I love the idea of a gingham skirt paired with a sweater and white sneakers or a pair of otk boots! Shop the look below.
If you told me six months ago I’d be into ruffles, I’d laugh. Seriously though guys, I really hated ruffles until I saw them styled this summer. They don’t remind me of little girls anymore– instead, I’m super into them and how they add a feminine touch to your outfit. I’ve seen a lot of ruffled skirts (like the gingham ones above), dresses, and tops! For school, I love the classic jeans + sweater combo, so why not reach for a ruffled sweater to give that go-to outfit a little flair?
Off the Shoulder
I know that off the shoulder tops and dresses have been around for a while now, but I feel like they were a big hit this summer, especially those kind that wrap around your arms (like the one in the last slider below). I always had a love/hate relationship with off the shoulder pieces– they can potentially make your shoulders look broad and they can ride up, constantly making you tug at it to stay in place. However, I’ve found that you just have to get the right kind for every occasion. For example, if I’ll be moving around a lot, I’ll reach for an off the shoulder top with a thicker elastic band to keep it from riding up, an vice versa. I love that with off the shoulder tops you can show off accessories like necklaces or earrings! Here are a few outfits I compiled integrating off the shoulder pieces into a fall look!
The 70’s have had a huge comeback this season and it’s taken the form of bell sleeves this summer. I really love how it adds life to an outfit, whether it’s a casual look, formal look, or even office wear! I’ve compiled three looks below for each way you can incorporate bell sleeves into your closet this fall!
