Liquid lipstick is super popular nowadays among the beauty community, but they can be hard to apply if you don’t know how to use them properly. I love liquid lipsticks because they’re usually smudge-proof and last a really long time! If you use these tips, wearing liquid lipstick should be a breeze!
Exfoliate + Moisturize
Most liquid lipsticks are matte, which is unforgiving for dry lips. Make sure to exfoliate your lips (tip: toothbrushes work really well!), and follow up with some heavy-duty balm and let it dry. Keeping your lips moisturized will make your liquid lipstick apply flawlessly and will keep them from drying out!
Lining your lips can help you apply liquid lipstick easier if you’re a beginner. Line your lips with a liner in the same color as your lipstick. This makes it easier to apply because when you apply your lipstick it’s like coloring inside the lines! It makes the edges of your lipstick smooth, especially if you don’t have a steady hand.
Now that your lips are smooth and lined, it’s time to apply your lipstick! I think the easiest way is to start at your cupid’s bow. This is the hardest part, so take your time with it! Since your lips are lined, you can just color in the lines!
If you end up making a mistake or your hand isn’t too steady, you can use concealer to carve out your lips and make them extra perfect!
Review: Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick
I received a set of the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks for Christmas, and I thought no better time to review them than in this article! Here are the swatches:
These are all of the liquid lipsticks that came in the set. As you can see, they’re super pretty and there’s a good variety of colors from neutrals to more colorful ones.
As for the formula, I actually really love it! It’s really easy to apply and super creamy. You only need to apply one to two layers for full opacity. The darker colors aren’t patchy, which is super hard to find in liquid lipsticks. I love the matte finish too!
The one negative I do have is that they are a little drying, and as with any matte lipstick, you can really tell when you have dry lips. If you exfoliate and moisturize your lips before using these lipsticks, they will look great!
One highlight I want to point out is that these feel really great on the lips. These lipsticks are super easy to apply and dry completely. And the best part to me is that it literally feels like nothing is on your lips with these lipsticks. I really appreciate that, and they don’t rub off onto anything like a glass of water.
Overall, I can say these are my favorite liquid lipsticks I’ve tried, and I highly recommend these if you’re thinking about trying them out!
